Wake Up at The Pond Retreat
A shared commitment
to healing, restoration, and renewed hope.
The Pond Retreat is delighted to be the new home of Wake Up, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Cecily and Nadejda to expand access to healing for trauma survivors and the people who help them heal.
A story that began with a chance encounter
Wake Up began when Cecily and Nadejda unexpectedly bumped into each other in Ashland, Oregon, in 2014. They had not seen each other since childhood, when they shared the same music teacher in Washington, D.C.
They decided to meet for coffee and catch up. As they talked, they discovered remarkable parallels in their lives, including their deeply personal journeys of healing from trauma. Both felt profound gratitude for the practitioners who had helped save their lives and supported their well-being.
Both also shared a desire to help others access the care and support that had made such a difference in their own lives.
Their conversation turned to the urgent need to support survivors of sex trafficking, particularly along the I-5 corridor in Oregon and the West Coast. Out of that unexpected reunion grew a shared vision, and Wake Up was born.
Making healing more accessible
Since its founding, Wake Up has helped create opportunities for trauma survivors to access treatment and alternative and complementary healing modalities that may not be covered by insurance or otherwise be financially accessible.
Wake Up's mission has also expanded to include the helpers: the practitioners, caregivers, and others who dedicate themselves to supporting the healing of others. Through funding for treatment and restorative retreats, Wake Up seeks to make meaningful care more accessible to both survivors and those who support them.
Registered in both Maine and Oregon, Wake Up remains committed to the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to heal, restore, and reconnect with a sense of well-being.
A meaningful new home
in Maine
The Pond Retreat in Sedgwick, Maine, is a particularly meaningful home for Wake Up. The region is near where Nadejda grew up and was deeply beloved by Cecily's father, Patrick, who supported Wake Up's mission from its earliest days until his death. Cecily's parents have each supported the organization in their own way, and their encouragement has been an important part of its story.
Establishing Wake Up's headquarters at the Pond Retreat brings together a mission rooted in healing and a place that invites rest, reflection, and renewal. It is a meaningful next chapter for Wake Up and an opportunity to continue this work in a setting with deep personal significance.

Cecily Macrory is an empowerment coach specializing in Somatic Voice Therapy. Somatic Voice Therapy is a gentle practice that restores harmony, ease, and authenticity in self-expression as well as in emotional intimacy and relationships. Cecily has been a coach for seventeen years, and specializes in working with trauma and PTSD related to sexual violence and abuse. Cecily works with teen and pre-teen girls as a mentor and voice coach, as well as with actors, musicians, teachers and various professionals looking to improve both the health of their physical voice, as well as to increase the impact of their offerings and teachings. Cecily has developed a specific system of breath and voice integration exercises through which clients are supported to relax and settle their nervous systems while speaking and communicating.
Cecily works with the premise that our voices hold a record of all of our life experiences. Trauma can be stored, and held, at times for decades, in our voices and breath patterns. Unwinding these traumas on a cellular level is very possible, often surprisingly easeful through Somatic Voice Therapy.
Cecily's life-long studies in music and healing have taken her from The Manhattan School of Music, The Juilliard School, and Berklee School of Music to the Himalayas and The Kathmandu Healing Center in Nepal, from international stages to silent monasteries, and now to her home in Talent, Oregon where she works and lives with her husband and daughter, and their three dogs.
Cecily is a proud board member of the Jackson County Sexual Assault Response Team (JC SART) and is certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) as well as in Sound Healing.

Through her personal experience and extensive work with individuals of all ages who have been impacted by trauma, Nadejda has focused her clinical career on deepening her understanding about the ways trauma impacts our relationship to ourselves and others, as well as to exploring her curiosity about the mystery and possibility of healing.
In 2014, Nadejda co-founded Wake Up! (501-C3) with her childhood friend and colleague, Cecily Macrory, in response to the needs of survivors of sexual violence in their community of Jackson County, Oregon. Nadejda currently works as Managing Director of Synergy Health Consulting, a healthcare consulting firm focused on reducing overdose deaths by working with decision makers and change agents across sectors to develop programs that reflect best practices regarding the intersection of trauma, addiction, and pain.
